Putin Says the Petrodollar Must Die!

by: Tyler Durden

Zero Hedge

On one hand, despite initial weakness following Europe’s triple-dip red alert, futures declined only to surge higher after some headline or another out of Russia was again spun to suggest imminent Ukraine de-escalation (something which Russia whose only interest is to keep crude prices high, has absolutely zero interest in), perpetuating a rumor which was set off by a Russian media outlet tweet last week that has sent S&P futures over 50 higher in less than a week on… nothing.

On the other, Putin just said the following… article continues

14 Reasons Why the U.S. Economy’s Bubble of False Prosperity May be About to Burst:

by: Michael Snyder

Activist Post

Did you know that a major event just happened in the financial markets that we have not seen since the financial crisis of 2008?  If you rely on the mainstream media for your news, you probably didn’t even hear about it.

Just prior to the last stock market crash, a massive amount of money was pulled out of junk bonds. Now it is happening again.

In fact, as you will read about below, the market for high yield bonds just experienced “a 6-sigma event”.  But this is not the only indication that the U.S. economy could be on the verge of very hard times.

Retail sales are extremely disappointing, mortgage applications are at a 14-year low and growing geopolitical storms around the world have investors spooked.  For a long time now, we have been enjoying a period of relative economic stability even though our underlying economic fundamentals continue to get even worse.  Unfortunately, there are now a bunch of signs that this period of relative stability is about to end.  The following are 14 reasons why the U.S. economy’s bubble of false prosperity may be about to burst…

#1 The U.S. junk bond market just experienced “a 6-sigma event” earlier this month.  In other words, it is an event that is only supposed to have a chance of 1 in 500 million of happening.  Billions of dollars are being pulled out of junk bonds right now, and that has some analysts wondering if a financial crash is right around the corner.

The One Question About Ebola That Nobody Can Seem To Answer:

by: Michael Snyder

Infowars

How in the world is it possible that more than 170 health workershave been infected by the Ebola virus?  That is the one question about Ebola that nobody can seem to answer.  The World Health Organization is reporting this as a fact, but no explanation is given as to why this is happening.  We are just assured that Ebola “is not airborne” and that getting infected “requires close contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person”.  If this is true, then how have more than 170 health workers caught the disease?  These workers are dressed head to toe in suits that are specifically designed to prevent the spread of the virus.  So how is this happening?  I could understand a handful of “mistakes” by health workers, but this is unlike anything that we have ever seen in the history of infectious diseases.  These health workers take extraordinary precautions to keep from getting the virus.  If it is spreading so easily to them, what chance is the general population going to have?

Overall, more than 1,700 people have been officially infected and more than 900 people have officially died so far.  But an official from Samaritan’s Purse says that the real numbers are probably far, far higher

Ken Isaacs, the vice president of Program and Government Relations for Samaritan’s Purse, painted an even bleaker picture. According to the World Health Organization, West Africa has counted 1,711 diagnoses and 932 deaths, already, which could represent only a small fraction of the true number. “We believe that these numbers represent just 25 to 50 percent of what is happening,” said Isaacs.

In a six-hour meeting with the president of Liberia last week, Isaacs said workers from Samaritan’s Purse and SIM watched as the “somber” officials explained the gravity of the situation in their countries, where hundreds lie dead in the streets. “It has an atmosphere of apocalypse,” Isaacs said of the Liberia Ministry of Health’s status updates. “Bodies lying in the street…gangs threatening to burn down hospitals. I believe this disease has the potential to…

Coulter to Hannity: No, Boehner Is Not a ‘Crap-Ass’ Republican:

by: Matt Wilstein

Mediaite

Neither Sean Hannity nor Ann Coulter are particularly pleased with the leadership of the Republican Party right now, but they disagree when it comes to a solution. During an appearance on Hannity’s radio show, Coulter told the host he shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss John Boehneras a “horrible speaker,” especially since he decided to sue President Barack Obama.

“We can’t just abandon the field right now. You have to vote Republican, even for crap-ass Republicans,” Coulter said after Hannity aired some of his grievances with the party.

While Coulter declined to name with members of the GOP she was referring to, Hannity offered up his own example. “Starting with John Boehner,” he said. “John Boehner should not be speaker of the House. He’s a horrible speaker. You know I’m right, stop arguing.”

Coulter said the only thing that bothers her about Boehner is his “push for amnesty,” which he “seems to have abandoned” for now. Besides that, she added… article continues

Ron Paul on Iraq: “The Sooner We Get Out of There the Better”

RT

Former congressman Ron Paul told RT on Tuesday that the United States should look to the history books for advice on how to handle the escalating crisis in Iraq and pull the American military out of the country immediately.

US sends arms to Iraq – to solve problems Washington helped create

Only days after US President Barack Obama authorized the Pentagon to begin airstrikes against militants from the Islamic State, formerly ISIS, in the midst of a violent campaign being waged by that group across Iraq, the longtime lawmaker for the state of Texas told RT’s Ameera David that America should abandon its latest efforts in the Middle East lest it wants to repeat the lessons of the last Iraq War.

“I think it’s a little bit late to salvage all the mistakes that we’ve made for the past 24 years,” Paul said.“I’ve been opposed to going into Iraq all the way back to the beginning in 1990 because I believe in nonintervention — that we should mind our own business.

“I don’t think the solution is being involved even more so once again. I’m afraid it will end up with a lot more violence because… article continues

Libertarian Candidate for Senate Excluded from Major Debates!

by: Rachel Blevins

Ben Swann

Running as a Libertarian candidate, and attempting to defy the two-party system is not an easy task in the United States, and Robert Sarvis is one candidate who knows the many obstacles that come when running for a third party.

In addition to being a current candidate for the U.S. Senate, and a resident of Virginia, Sarvis has had experience as a lawyer, teacher, software developer, businessman, and politician.

In his time running as a third-party candidate, Sarvis has found that he has been excluded from the major debates that are known for putting candidates in the spotlight.

Although he only needed 10,000 signatures to have his name included on the ballot, Sarvis gathered 19,000 signatures from registered voters.

Despite the voter support, Sarvis told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that his exclusion from the debates was influenced by the demands of his Republican opponent, Ed Gillespie, and his Democratic opponent, Senator Mark Warner.

It’s incredibly frustrating,” said Sarvis. “It’s one thing to run in a fair process and lose. It’s another thing…article continues

New Political Study Says Average Citizen Has Zero Effect On U.S. Policy:

by: Brian McWilliams

Lions of Liberty

In a revelation that will come as a surprise to very few who are educated enough to know how our current crony capitalist system works, a new study due to come out this fall has found that the average citizen in the United States has virtually zero impact on public policy or those who create it. From The Hill:

The new study, with the jaw-clenching title of “Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups, and Average Citizens,” is forthcoming in the fall 2014 edition of Perspectives on Politics. Its authors, Martin Gilens of Princeton University and Benjamin Page of Northwestern University, examined survey data on 1,779 national policy issues for which they could gauge the preferences of average citizens, economic elites, mass-based interest groups and business-dominated interest groups. They used statistical methods to determine the influence of each of these four groups on policy outcomes, including both policies that are adopted and rejected.

The analysts found that when controlling for the power of economic elites and organized interest groups, the influence of ordinary Americans registers at a “non-significant, near-zero level.” The analysts further discovered that rich individuals and business-dominated interest groups dominate the policymaking process. The mass-based interest groups had minimal influence compared to the business-based interest groups.

The study also debunks the notion that the policy preferences of business and the rich reflect the views of common citizens. They found to the contrary that such preferences often sharply diverge and when they do, the economic elites and business interests almost always win and the ordinary Americans lose.

This news plays into the hands of liberals, who will decry the rich and the impact of big business on public policy. However, this is a position that begs them to look in the mirror as proponents of big government. The larger and more intrusive government gets… article continues…

The Profound Impact of Insightful Comedy in a World Steeped in Insanity

by: Mike Adams

Natural News

I was devastated by the news of Robin Williams’ suicide this week. The man was an extraordinary comedic genius who was loved by millions.

We’re all wondering the same thing right now, probably: How could a man with such talent and such professional success feel so tormented by life that ending it seemed like an easier option than living through it? From the outside, it’s seductively easy for all of us to second guess the reasons, but in truth we can’t know what it was like to be Robin Williams.

On the surface, it’s all too easy for us to say, “He had success, money, fame and fans. He had it all!” And yet, as any successful celebrity can tell you, it’s not that simple.

When you’re famous, it’s difficult to have real friends. The more famous you are, the worse it gets. You never know if people like you for who you truly are or if they just want to get close to you to exploit your celebrity or influence for their own aims.

As most famous actors can readily attest, being famous is a lonely life path. Privately lonely, that is. Regardless of what public persona famous actors must put on for professional reasons, in truth, at the end of the day, when you’re sitting in your hotel room readying your next public performance, being a famous person is often a very lonely existence.

Robin Williams said it himself as depicted in this quote: “I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up alone. It’s not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people that make you feel all alone.”
