NBA Scout Zak Baris On March Madness & If The NBA Should Have A Salary Cap.

“The Unhappy Hour” host Brian Engelman once again welcomes Zak Baris to talk about:

– March Madness, who has been the biggest upset so far?
– Who will make it to the Final Four?
– Will the Cavs make the playoffs, & what will they end up doing with the duo of Dion Waiters & Kyrie Irving?

– Plus, after Miguel Cabrera signed a huge deal with the Tigers, LeBron James said ‘wow, I wish we (the NBA) didn’t have a salary cap. He’s the best player in baseball, and the best players in each sport should be rewarded. It’d be nice to sign a 10-year deal worth $300 million.”

– Is a salary cap in the NBA a good idea?

Roddy White Agrees To Pay Up On Lost March Madness Twitter Bet With Falcons Fan.

“The Unhappy Hour” host Brian Engelman covers the story of Falcons WR Roddy White who bet a fan on Twitter season tickets at the 50 yard line that Mercer wouldn’t beat Duke in the 2014 March Madness tournament.

Should Roddy White have paid a fan on social media who wagered nothing of his own, or should Roddy White pay up to avoid more bad publicity & maybe even learn a lesson to stop running his mouth?

We love this story on so many different levels!

“Agree Or Disagree” That College Athletes Should Be Paid? Northwestern Can Now Unionize.

“The Unhappy Hour” host Brian Engelman covers the recent decision from the National Labor Relations Board that has ruled that the Northwestern football team can unionize.

Do you think that college football players should be paid?

When Brian attended Bowling Green State University, he volunteered for the Concert Director position at the school.
He worked for a year to transform a $9,785 budget into a $50,000 account through budget re-allocations & co-sponsorships.
The committee booked a $100,000 concert (MTV Campus Invasion Tour featuring Bush & Moby) & ended up creating roughly $15,000 in pure profit after expenses.

While volunteering 20-30 extra hours a week to make the concert a success, it would have been just about totally impossible to work a part time job to pay for some books or groceries, or movies or clothing.

So the host certainly empathizes with students wanting to make some money.
ESPECIALLY when the job they work generates significant revenue for the school.

However, these football players are receiving tuition plus room & board to play a game that they love, so it is a little different.

Plus,…the can of worms or “Pandora’s Box” is now officially open across the country for more people to try and unionize as well.

– The conversation quickly switches to cover all things homophobic, sexist & racist in sports from:

– Michael Sam comes out as gay before the NFL draft,
– The NFL is considering banning “the N word” & Richard Sherman’s reaction,
– What did Larry Doby & Jackie Robinson have to endure as they broke the MLB color barriers in both the American & National leagues?
– We all remember the Reggie Miller / Spike Lee battle in Madison Square Garden, but we also remember that Spike Lee tweeted the address of who he thinks is George Zimmerman last year,
– Was Jeremy Lin overrated because he was Asian, or was he a sensation because he was playing incredible basketball?
– What was that obnoxious fan screaming at Marcus Smart that led to “the shove”,
– Ron Artest ran into the stands to attack an NBA fan & we recently saw an incident where a fan ran on to the college basketball court,
– Roger Goodell & Jan Brewer & the recent Arizona legislation proposal that had the NFL threatening to move the Super Bowl,
– Rush Limbaugh comments on ESPN that Donovan McNabb might be getting too much credit because the media is rooting for him to do well,
– Is Jason Collins getting too much coverage for some garbage time minutes for the Nets, and was his signing just a publicity stunt to sell jerseys?
– Washington Redskins, Fighting Irish, Cleveland Indians and other sports team nicknames that some would like to see changed, (we then point out the absurd & offensive team names in the Trey Parker & Matt Stone comedy movie “Baseketball”)

Plus,

– After reports surfaced where Joakim Noah lobbied Carmelo Anthony to join Chicago, what kind of impact does it have when players plot behind the scenes, & what are the chances that Carmelo Lands in Chi town?
– Can the Cavs make the playoffs?
– Will Phil Jackson join the Knicks?
– Will the NBA adopt a 4 point shot?
– Will the NFL adopt a 42 yard extra point attempt,
