Former Marine Warns of Terrifying Militarized Occupation of American Cities:

by: Paul Joseph Watson

Infowars

Former Marine Paul Szoldra warns that events in Ferguson, Missouri illustrate the “terrifying” result of the militarization of police, with the American people now being treated like insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In an article for Business Insider, Szoldra questions why police in Ferguson are wearing combat gear such as desert camouflage which is normally reserved for troops fighting in foreign war zones.

“We looked intimidating, but all of our vehicles and equipment had a clear purpose for combat against enemy forces. So why is this same gear being used on our city streets?” asks Szoldra, adding, “When did this become OK?”

The former Marine notes how police in Ferguson are armed with military-style rifles with scopes as well as body armor.

“Their uniform would be mistaken for a soldier’s if it weren’t for their “Police” patches,” writes Szoldra. “They wear green tops, and pants fashioned after the U.S. Marine Corps MARPAT camouflage pattern. And they stand in front of a massive armored truck called a Bearcat, similar in look to a mine-resistant ambush protected vehicle, or as the troops who rode in them call it, the MRAP.”

Szoldra cites conversations he had with other former military personnel who pointed out that some of the police in Ferguson are more heavily armed than U.S. troops in an “actual warzone.”

“When did “protect and serve” turn into “us versus them”? asks Szoldra, asserting that the sight of police in militarized combat gear is not helping the situation.

“In Afghanistan, we patrolled in big, armored trucks. We wore uniforms that conveyed the message, “We are a military force and we are in control right now.” Many Afghans saw us as occupiers. And now we see some of our police officers in this same way,” writes Szoldra, concluding, “If there’s one thing I learned in Afghanistan, it’s this: (article continues)

Edward Snowden: Lies Pushed Me Over the Edge

by: Rob Lever AFP Edward Snowden says dishonest comments to Congress by the US intelligence chief were the final straw that prompted him to flee the country and reveal a trove of national security documents.

In an interview with Wired magazine in Moscow, where he sought asylum after the revelations, Snowden said he had long been troubled by the activities of the National Security Agency (NSA), which employed him as a contractor.

But it was only when Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told lawmakers that the agency does “not wittingly” collect data on millions of American citizens that he was angry enough to act.

The magazine released the article online Wednesday, along with several new photographs of the once-elusive Snowden, including a cover shot of the technician lovingly cradling an American flag.

Snowden says he made his decision to leave his office in Hawaii and head to Hong Kong with secret documents on thumb drives after reading in March 2013 about Clapper briefing a Senate committee.

“I think I was reading it in the paper the next day, talking to coworkers, saying, can you believe this…?” Snowden said.

Following his sensational leaks about the scale of US global surveillance and how the NSA sucks up data on US users’ phone calls, Clapper apologized to the Senate for his “erroneous” remarks.

Snowden told Wired that he had already thought about “whistle-blowing” several times… article continues

The Declaration of Bitcoin’s Independence?

I’ve been speaking about Bitcoin a little bit more lately. I think part of the reason is because of the increasing prices I keep running into. I’m starting to really feel the pain at the grocery store… doesn’t it seem like the costs have gotten significantly higher in just the last few years? I’m not an economist, but it certainly feels like the inflation is a lot worse than they say it is, and that the prices are probably never going to magically turn around. Have they ever?

That being said, I’m not endorsing Bitcoin or any crypto-currency. However, what I do know is that the dollar is likely to only get worse from here.  Did I mention that many other countries want to bail on the dollar as well?

I’m not a financial adviser, but I think it would be wise to do some research into alternative currencies… you certainly don’t want to have all of your currency in dollars if it ever collapses. I personally think physical gold and silver are excellent choices because they’ve held value for thousands of years and can always be used for barter. However, if you are still looking to hedge/diversify with something different, than crypto-currencies just might be right for you.

And after watching the above video you may also have to wonder… could we all actually be better off without the dollar?

Agree or Disagree?

(Are You Prepared To Handle A Riot?) Ferguson Resident Justifies Burning Down of Gas Station as “Fighting Back” against the Police

by Kit Daniels

Infowars.com

A Ferguson, Missouri, resident justified the looting and arson of a QuikTrip gas station as an appropriate response to Saturday’s police shooting of a teenager.

DeAndre Smith, 30, said members of the community were “fighting back” against the police when they ransacked and torched the QuikTrip near West Florissant and Ferguson Avenue, which is now a heap of burnt debris and twisted steel, after a Ferguson police officer shot and killed teenager Mike Brown.

“This is exactly what’s supposed to happen when an injustice is happening in your community when you have kids getting killed for nothing, when they’re out here minding their own business doing nothing,” he told a St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter while pointing at the smoldering gas station behind him.

“You can lock them up, teach them, hold them but at the same time you ain’t got to kill them.”

The Border Fence is a Joke: Filmmaker Crosses Border Dressed as Bin Laden!

by David Martosko

MailOnline

A flamethrowing American conservative activist raised eyebrows in the U.S. on Monday by releasing a video of himself crossing the Rio Grande River from Mexico into Texas, dressed as the late al-Qaeda terror mastermind Osama bin Laden.

Guerrilla documentarian James O’Keefe’s footage comes at a time when Americans are engaged in a national debate about border security. Tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors from Central America have entered the U.S. illegally in recent months, drawn by a confusing White House policy that appears to offer amnesty for those who make it safely.

In Monday’s video release, O’Keefe focuses on the implications for national security: He illegally crosses into Mexico twice and returns – first in street clothes and again in army fatigues, wearing an Osama bin Laden Halloween mask

Tony Stewart’s History of Rage:

By: Lydia Warren

MailOnline

From throwing helmets to punches, Tony Stewart has long had a reputation for being unable to control his temper.

Footage taken through the NASCAR star’s career – before he fatally struck a competitor with his vehicle in upstate New York at the weekend – shows him erupting in anger at fellow drivers following knocks on the track.

For more than a decade, he has been seen plowing down pit crew members, threatening to run fellow competitors off the track, shoving drivers in anger and even throwing his helmet at a car.

On Saturday night, a conflict turned to tragedy after driver Kevin Ward, Jr., 20, climbed out of his car on the track to confront Stewart and was knocked down by his vehicle.

Illegal Alien Crime Victims Slam Boehner Absence at Border

by: Matthew Boyle

Breitbart

Several victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens criticized Speaker John Boehner’s absence at an event on the southern U.S. border in McAllen, Texas Saturday, saying the Ohio Republican and champion of immigration reform should witness the violence spilling over from Mexico first hand.

The group had earlier invited Boehner and his family to tour the border with them, but Boehner’s office has not responded to the letter or issued any public statement about it since the invitation.

“Thank you all for being here this afternoon—we came down here to McAllen, Texas, where we had sent a letter to Speaker John Boehner to come down and join us on this border to see firsthand the issues that are going on down here,” George Wilkerson, whose son Josh was murdered by an illegal alien in November 2010, said at a press conference on Saturday.

Behind Mr. Wilkerson was a tent with several empty chairs, underneath a banner reading: “McAllen TX Welcomes Spkr John Boehner & Family.”

“We are part of the victims of the problem out here—our son was murdered in Pearland, Texas, from an illegal immigrant,” George Wilkerson said at the event, hosted by the Remembrance Project—a group devoted to remembering victims of horrific crimes like murder and homicide committed by illegal aliens.

“We have invited John to come down here, and his family, to see firsthand what’s going on and as you can see they failed to show up for us,” George Wilkerson said. “I think they need to show up and give us some respect.”

“He was tortured, beaten to death, strangled and then set on fire,” Laura Wilkerson, with her husband George at her side, added about their son Josh’s murder by an illegal alien. “We know firsthand what it feels like to have that happen to a family. Again, we invited John Boehner down here to see—this is a learning weekend for us to come down here and actually see what’s going on as opposed to some snippets you see on the news. We really thought this one American child might be worth coming down just to take a look and see what’s actually here and walk where we’re walking and find out just exactly what is the truth about what’s going on.”
