Post Keys to Victory: Browns vs. Jaguars

Well, are you feeling the blues yet? It's gotta be in full-swing for most people by now! About the Rams game:

They did try some new things on offense, but man, does anyone else think that the last goal line series was bungled before they ever attempted the field goal? Man, handing off to a tight end that has never gotten a handoff before? Why not try one shot in the end zone at all? Badly coached, after a game that was well-coached overall. Still Colt can't get in the end zone. I know it's not just him, because he did look pretty decent yesterday. Still, he knows how to get in the end zone. We've seen it before, so where is it now? Evan Moore still is nonexistent, except for a penalty that put us out of TD range while in the end zone. That's all I can say. Onto the Jags:

1.) Another chance at victory: The Browns shoulda/coulda won this last game against the Rams. Blame it on the botched field goal, but our team was significantly better than the Rams, with the exception of their running game. We will get another shot at another middling team in the Jaguars. Let's see if we can finally put it all together.

2.) Another rookie QB, but another veteran RB: We hopefully can rattle Gabbert's chains a little bit, but we also have the problem of stopping Maurice Jones Drew. We haven't stopped anyone, ANYONE running the football this year. We've given up 100 yard runners to almost every team we've played this year, including TWO to the surging Texans. MJD broke our hearts last year by breaking a long one to win the game last year, when the Browns had forced something like 6 turnovers! This is REVENGE!

3.) The O-Line looked better, but still not great: Part of this is the fact that the Rams Defense is horribly depleted, but we looked ok. Maybe we could up it to "good" against the Jags. We'll see.

Final prognosis: I gotta pick the Browns. They've gotta be able to pick themselves up and do something for their fans, right? Little gets in the end zone finally, and they don't blow it in crunch time. Browns 20-7.

Wow. That last game was a monumental & epic failure.
It is now time to put Mike Holmgren on the clock. He picked this coach. This team is not sharp or prepared for games. The hiring of Pat Shurmur is on Mike Holmgren, and he must answer for that.
I loved the shotgun formation for Colt. I liked some of the creative play-calling.
However, that last drive reminded me of former Ohio State Buckeye coach John Cooper how he would always coach "not to lose" instead of "coach to win" in the big games.
Pat Shurmur made a logical decision to try and eat seconds from the clock, and try a chip-shot "gimmie" field goal from Mr. Reliable, Phil Dawson.
However,.. wouldn't a passing touchdown at home, to put the nail in the coffin have been a huge shot of adrenaline to this beat up Browns team & stadium of frustrated fans? Gotta try to win the game in that circumstance,... not call plays to "not lose" it.
Handing off to the TE showed how little our coach is in touch with what is going on.
(How many millions would it take to entice Bill Cowher to come coach the Browns???)
The Browns need to use a 2 tight end set to help our running game with Steinbach's injury, and our repetitive right tackle problems. Also, our Tight Ends are also our best playmakers and need to exploit matchup problems with opposing teams. I see NO REASON why we do not put Evan Moore & Benjamin Watson in a 2 tight end set to block & catch & win games with touchdowns. (Thoughts anyone?)
Have you went to youtube & searched for "factory of sadness" yet? O.K. Stop and search "Browns, Factory of Sadness". It's a rant straight from my thoughts!
I predict an angry & focused Browns team to win 38-13.
I know this offense has potential. They haven't shown it since the pre-season, and we're missing Peyton Hillis, but come on,.... SHOW SOME PRIDE!!!!

I will not be at the game. I know this is a process and this year isn't the year, so I will not get myself emotionally involved in a team that isn't meant to win this yr. As a life long Cleveland fan you learn to invest in the teams emotionally when the owner or GM does. I will always be a fan, just not a fanatic untill it is time. Indians every 3-5 yrs, Cavs in 2 yrs and Browns in 2 yrs. Until then I will be outside enjoying my Sundays. Great site by the way Brian, I will try to post on here often. This is my first time ever in a forum, so not sure if I did it right 🙂 Go Cleveland!

Mike, this is exactly how you post in a forum.
It was an ugly game.
An ugly win, beats an ugly defeat.
Now for another week of getting better.
Go Browns!
