Post Keys to Victory: Browns vs. Cardinals

Well, the Browns had their annual close loss to the Steelers last Thursday, which doesn't bode well for the final game of the season, as the other game against the Steelers is often a blowout. Roethlisberger did it again, gutting out a tough ankle injury and icing the game with a big TD to Antonio Brown. Our defense played inspired football, but our offense had little going for it, and even less when McCoy was lambasted by James "Hitman" Harrison. It will be interesting to see how the Browns respond from one of their gutsiest games of the season. Onto the West Coast:

1.) Seneca Wallace, You Are the Next in Line: It appears that Seneca Wallace is on track to make his first start in over a year against the Cards. He has shown the ability to be a decent QB when he's called upon. In some ways, he has better tools than McCoy. It would be highly interesting if he took the reins and got the offense on track against a hot, but questionable at times, Cardinals D.

2.) Defense, Do You Have Another One in You?: The D played really tough against the Steelers last week. The Cardinals, although playing their best football of the season, are not the Steelers. Will the Browns lay an egg, or kick some tail?

3.) Beanie Wells, Pride of Ohio: Chris "Beanie" Wells had a pretty awesome game just a couple weeks ago, rushing for over 200 yards, giving the Cardinals fans a tantalizing glimpse into why the organization took him in the first round a few years back. So far, he's had a few mediocre, injury-plagued seasons in the NFL. Look for him to play big against the Browns defense if we come back to earth after last week.

Final Prognosis: Can I pick a tie? I'll say that Wallace brings a spark to the team. Browns 24-14. We'll see. Remember Browns fans, only four more months before our Super Bowl, aka the Draft!

Yes, I have loved the Browns goalline & 4th down defense this year. Their defensive play when backed into a corner has been superb. One of the lone bright spots this year.

I'm very tired of James Harrison. Is there a karma involved when a player goes out of his way to injure other players? Hard hits are great. Cheap shots are inexcusable. Glad he was suspended, but 1 game seems a little insignificant to me.

I'm wondering how the Browns "Concussion-Gate" will play out. Colt's father was upset that he was allowed right back into the game after his concussion, and it's yet another black eye for the troubled football franchise.

I look forward to seeing what Seneca can do as quarterback. However, let's remember that Colt didn't have any decent WR's, and was down to the 4th running back, while also missing the blocking of Steinbach.

I don't think Colt is the problem. He might be the problem, but I'd like to see some more offensive weapons before I completely write him off like Tony Grossi basically has in the Plain Dealer today.

I like your prediction of 24-14. I'll say 27-13 Browns.

We really need to hit a home run in our next draft to turn the corner and start winning enough games to consistently compete for the playoffs.

Wow. The Browns are just inventing new ways to lose each week huh?
I guess we're just playing for draft picks at this point.
So disappointing.
Why can't this team get it's act together?

Is it too early to start prognosticating draft position and where we'll pick with the Falcons' 1st round pick in the next draft?

Which positions are of the most urgent need for the Browns?
