What I said was that I thought it was ridiculous that you guys thought he was not at fault.

My point was that, IF he was told that someone was raped and he did not make sure the police found out about it...that's a problem.

Without knowing EXACTLY what Paterno was told, it's hard to say what level of wrong-doing he should be "assigned", so to speak.

What punishment was served up to him? That is obviously debatable on what should have been done.

I think there's a lot of misinformation about what Paterno was told and what he told others. Either way I think the idea that he was the main villain is the real issue. If anything he was an ancillary figure to the entire issue.

let's say you are the head of your division at your business

an employee comes up to you and informs you that he saw seriously inappropriate fondling happening in an unwanted and inappropriate fashion

you honestly think the appropriate response would be to just phone your boss, tell him what happened and then just keep on going about life...and working with the alleged culprit...

that just doesn't seem like the appropriate response to me

As to what should have been the appropriate punishment or what % of the situation can be blamed on him...I don't know...I guess its up for debate?

i feel like you penn state people are ultra sensitive...as I have not heard ONCE that anyone is assuming that Joe Pa is the main culprit.

He obviously didn't do anything even CLOSE to what the alleged rapist did...but it doesn't mean he is completely innocent.

Touche'?

I think our problem is the media coverage and the fact that it focused almost exclusively on Joe Paterno and not on Saundusky, Schultze and others that were much more directly culpable.

i guess you have to equate that with his famous/celebrity status...it comes with the territory

also...there is no room for discussion or debate on Sandusky...everyone knows if true, it is VERY wrong...but with Joe Pa...there IS room for debate...and he has been such a HUGE sports figure for so long...i guess it interests people...but i guess from my unbiased standpoint...i don't see it as people think he has done the most wrong doing...he has obviously done the least...but yes...he is getting the most coverage...and i guess that seems fair and goes with the territory

I think the whole thing is very sad. It didn't take long after Joe Paterno was fired before he died.
This whole thing makes me sick to my stomach.
R.I.P. Joe Pa
This degenerate needs to spend the rest of his life behind bars to protect society.
Pray for the abused children.
